About BLACK ANZAC
When Street Artist Hego prepares to install the 9 metre tall Mural, he realises that a public mural of such epic proportions has not been done before. After facing obstacle after obstacle, Hego is finally able complete the mural on a historically significant building in Redfern, and it thus becomes the largest wheat-pasted mural in Australia to date.
What follows is extremely positive reactions from the local Indigenous and non-Indigenous community as the mural is completed just days before the Coloured Diggers March, in commemoration of Indigenous war veterans on Anzac Day. With insightful interviews featuring direct relatives of the soldier depicted in the mural, local aboriginal elders, prolific street Artist and activists, the documentary reveals the challenges faced by Indigenous diggers faced after their return from battle.
